The PING S55 Blade irons introduced
in 2015 are compact,
multi-material players' irons which provide added distance with
control while simultaneously improving workability and forgiveness.
Available in 3-Iron to 9-Iron with Pitching Wedge. The S55 17-4
stainless steel heads feature a tungsten toe weight to increase
forgiveness, and a vertical stabilizing bar for precise distance
control and a solid sound and feel at impact.
The long irons have a Centre of Gravity that is lower and further
back to launch the ball higher with greater ball speed for added
distance. In the short irons, the Centre of Gravity is more forward
to send the ball lower with optimal spin. The larger custom tuning
port (CTP) sits lower and deeper in the sole to optimize launch. And
to ensure exceptional sound and feel at impact, the CTP is made from
a thermoplastic elastomer. A machined face, grooves and back cavity,
plus thin top lines, a compact head, and a brushed, satin-chrome
finish create a confidence-inspiring design. PING’s CFS steel shaft
(control, feel, stability) comes as standard, offering a mid-high
launch also available fitted with a Z-Z65 steel shaft for low launch
and a graphite TFC189I shaft for higher launch.
The PING S56 irons released in 2011 are designed for low handicap golfers looking for maximum playability and shot making. The S56 irons were used to win the 2010 British Open. S56 irons have a steel body with a tungsten toe weight. The longer irons provide more forgiveness than the shorter irons which provide maximum shot making potential. PING S56 irons have a stabilizing bar which is shorter in the long irons to promote distance, in the shorter irons the stabilising bar is wider to produce more controlled trajectories. S56 irons are available from 2 to Pitching Wedge. Standard shafts are the Dynamic gold steel shafts offering a high flex and penetrating ball flight, the KBS tour steel shafts which provides mid-flight trajectory and the AWT steel shafts which provides a higher trajectory.
The PING S57 Iron range replace the S58 irons. The S57 irons have a blade design designed with tour trajectories and control for the lower handicap player. The S57 irons have a strategically placed tungsten weight and longer hosel to provide a level of forgiveness. S57 irons feature a thermoplastic urethane insert in the tuning pocket to help dissipate vibration.
The PING S58 irons replaces the popular S59 Irons. The S58 is a blade iron designed for lower handicap golfers. The tour-proven technology of the S58 irons elevates the feel and performance of a smaller, traditional head. The ball flight and distance control preferred by players seeking to compete at the highest levels is achieved through strategic placement of the centre of gravity further back in the long irons and moved forward in the short irons, this results in a slightly higher trajectory in the long irons and a more penetrating, controlled ball flight in the shorter irons.
The PING S59 Irons are designed for low handicap golfers, they have a traditional blade appearance, including a thin top line, smooth hosel transition, compact head and narrow, cambered sole. The S59 Irons quickly became PING’s most popular iron on Tour. The S59 also featured a stabilizing bar across the cavity which produced a solid feel and distance control, and a large Custom Tuning Port (CTP) which added forgiveness on mishits and enhanced club head feel. The CG, which was located closer to the face, created the penetrating trajectory preferred by top players. The S59 Tour model has a ferrule and a polished and brushed finish for a classic look.
